Activities
Important life skills related to personal growth and social values are also a part of the curriculum for Lower Secondary and Secondary Level students. They are taught different essential life skills through various activities. Such as Handwriting, Essay Writing, Story Writing, Poetry Recitation, Extempore, and Elocution, which are conducted during lessons. Along with these, different festivals like Dashain, Tihar, Education Day, Children’s Day, and Environment Week are celebrated to be in touch with our culture and tradition along with creating awareness.
Few activities are organized only for certain grades, according to their age level understanding and requirement.
Students of Grade VI perform community activities in a community school nearby. Grade VI says, “During the visit, we observed the environment, education system, and coordination in the school, which helped us to appreciate the different skills we are gaining through our educating system.”
Grade VII enjoys Chinese, Indian, and Nepali Potluck. The main objective of organizing these potlucks is to familiarize students with the cuisine of different countries based on the Social Studies Curriculum. Grade VII says, “Potluck is not just about eating. We think, through this activity, we got a good idea about these particular countries. We got a closer look towards their lifestyle and social behavior.”
The students are also given the opportunity to showcase their strengths and ability in different areas during the Annual Assembly in Matribhumi School. Few participate in play and exhibit their theatrical skills whereas few show their dance skills through dance performances. Among these, students also recite poems and sing songs too.
